Ying Ye

Ying Ye (叶荧)is a bilingual, Fuzhou-born interdisciplinary Chinese immigrant artist who weaves her family’s traditions of cooking and farming into her art. She explores themes of cultural identity, healing, and Asian American experiences while addressing urban development issues and racial and economic justice. She is working and living based in the Great Hartford Area in CT. She earned a BFA with Honors in majors of Sculpture and Painting from Hartford Art School at the University of Hartford in 2019 and an Associate of Art in Visual Fine Art at Manchester Community College in 2016. Ye is the selected public art artist of the 2024 Pao Arts Center Un-Monument Public Art & Performance Programming in Boston and a fellow of Trinity Studio Art Fellowship 2024-2025 in Hartford. She is the recipient of the 2022 Real Art Award and has exhibited at Real Art Ways (2023) in Hartford, Ely Center of Contemporary Art (2024 & 2022) in New Haven, Five Points Gallery (2021), and Farmington Valley Arts Center (2020). She was an artist-in-residence at The Alternative Art School (2023-2022), Farmington Valley Art Center (2020-2019) and Mildred’s Lane (2019). Ye also works in between education, languages, design, and culinary arts to promote cultural healing, social equity, and community inclusion.
